Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) was founded in Japan over 100 years ago and is a touch and energetic therapy based upon the understanding of the body’s energy system. It is most often practiced by laying on of hands and channeling energy from Source through the practitioner to the recipient. Reiki is only beneficial and healing, and healing can take place on many levels.

Reiki is Japanese for Universal Life Force, Source, or “God Light Energy.”

How it works

Reiki is a system of healing based on rebalancing the human body’s “electrical” or energy system and the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual information that is influenced by the flow of this subtle energy system within and around our body.

These energy systems, called Chakras, can be adversely impacted by many things common in our daily lives such as stress, emotional repression, negative self-talk, lack of sleep, poor nutrition, medications, and lack of exercise. These disruptions affect how we are feeling emotionally and take a toll on our physical health. Left untreated, we eventually slip into a state of chronic stress, which can cause our bodies to develop areas of stagnant energy.

Chronic stagnant energy changes how we are in the world physically, emotionally, and mentally. In many cases, stagnant energy can even lead to developing physical diseases, too. Reiki treatments help to rebalance your energy system in many ways including by moving the energy in your body and unblocking any stagnant areas.

Sessions typically last between 60 and 90 minutes. After your session, we will have an opportunity to talk about your experience. I will also bring my training in indigenous healing practices into my Reiki treatment sessions.

Benefits

Reiki can reduce pain, over stimulation, anxiety, emotional distress, and speed injury recovery, among other benefits. Reiki also induces relaxation, and most people find a Reiki treatment to be as relaxing and rejuvenating as massage, meditation, or yoga.

Part of my practice while doing Reiki involves listening to you and your body, and I often receive information and insight about your current sources of pain and dysfunction, past lives, power animals, guardians, and more.

Reiki is non-invasive and safe, while being a great adjunct to any medical treatment you may be undergoing with your doctor. It also wonderfully complements other psychotherapy and nutritional work.

Reiki is equally as effective performed remotely, called long-distance Reiki, as it is in person.
