About Sharon Maffett

Personal journey

I came into this world as a healer, wide open and full of light. But life, for many reasons, wasn’t safe enough to be that open, connected, and vulnerable, so I lost my light for many years.

My earliest memories are of an acute sensitivity to the thoughts and feelings of those around me. As a child I didn’t have the understanding and boundaries to cope with the strong feelings and energies swirling around me, and no one capable of teaching me. I responded by creating strong defenses to protect myself.

Later, I split my education and interests between the mind and the heart, which included many years working in the high-tech industry. Finally, though, the heart won over the head. I started experiencing mental and physical health issues, left the high-tech industry, and turned back to what had called to me as a child. Since that point, I’ve devoted my life to deepening my spiritual practice and helping others deepen theirs.

I am grateful for the path I’ve taken and the many lessons I’ve learned.

Life philosophy and therapeutic/spiritual approach

One of the most important things we can do is live our lives fully and authentically, in a way that feeds us, nourishes us, and teaches us. I try to model this approach in my life and to teach what I have learned through my own missteps, failures, and successes. It is through my personal, professional, and spiritual growth that I have found true joy.

Living fully and authentically requires listening, patience, trust, faith, and acceptance. Listening to our own internal wisdom and voice, and trusting in what we hear. Then, having the faith to know we will succeed – whatever that means – if we trust in that faith.

As a psychotherapist, nutritionist, Reiki Master and teacher, and shamanic practitioner, Sharon’s integrative services touch the mind, body, soul, and spirit.

About

I hold a dual Master of Science in Nutrition and Clinical Health Psychology from Bastyr University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Carnegie-Mellon University.  Prior to beginning my career as a psychotherapist, nutritionist, Reiki master, spiritual teacher, and healer, I held technical roles for many years at Digital Equipment Corporation and Microsoft Corporation.

I am a graduate of Sundust Oracle Institute, studying closely for 7 years with shaman and teacher Char Sundust. In addition, I studied with energy intuitive and author Marie Manucheri, and spiritual teachers and healers Sarah MacLean Bicknell and Betsy Bergstrom. I plan to be a life-long learner, always seeking new mentors and teachers.

I embrace a mind-body-spirit philosophy within my practice and believe the best healing occurs through a holistic and integrative approach that combines spiritual, energetic, emotional, nutritional, intellectual, and physical aspects of life. I live in concert with the rhythms of nature and the natural life forces that surround us. This combined with a healthy lifestyle, and positive sense of self, work as a form of natural medicine for body, mind, and spirit.

In addition to promoting a holistic and integrative approach, I strive to create a relationship with you based upon respect and trust. You and I become a team whose goals are to assist you in recognizing and growing your strengths while developing healthier lifestyle and coping strategies. My goal is also to allow you to discover who you really are through the energetic work we do together, and by understanding your body’s and psyche’s needs and satisfying them in a healthier way.

I enjoy working with people of all walks of life, including teens, adults, couples, families, groups, communities, and corporations.
